Neutering refers to the surgical removal of reproductive organs. In males it is called castration, and involves the removal of the testicles. In females it is called spaying, and involves the removal of the ovaries and uterus.
As well as eliminating the chance of unwanted litters of puppies, kittens or any other furry babies, neutering your pet can have a range of health benefits, across all species of pet. This includes a lower risk of some cancers and other serious illnesses such as pyometra.
The operation can also lead to a change in certain behaviours in both sexes, related to mating and breeding, for example they may be less likely to roam and you may notice they are less aggressive.
